Gulabgarh, as from the name one can easily make out its history, named after ruler of the state at that time maharaja Gulab singh who had to run away from jammu because some external forces attacked. Maharaja ran to the place about 80 km's north to reasi town and approximately 30 kms south to the last southern village of kashmir province dhamaal hanjipoora, tehsil kulgam just in the hands of peerpanchal mountain range, a place with almost no name at that time, now known as Gulabgarh.

There is a famous "qila" on the name of maharaja gulab Singh, and thats why its name is known as gulabgarh.

It is a block consists eight villages situated around the mountainous region of peer panjal, geographically  this region falls in the temperate zone, it has asimilar climate like that of kashmir. in winters it receives heavy snowfall which makes ii more beautiful.
